Nearly forty years after Lucy Spalding set down her needle, nine-year-old Elizabeth Potter Moore created this lovely sampler. More formal than the work of her predecessor, it has a charm of its own. The central panel may be a depiction of the Norwichtown green, a place that time and progress had already left behind when this sampler was created.
